About Negritoo.
Negritoo (born in 1975, São Paulo), a Brazilian visual artist, took his first steps through design and illustration. He graduated in Industrial Design from Mackenzie University and holds a postgraduate degree in design from SENAC University. He found in urban art, particularly graffiti, the gateway to his artistic thinking, allowing him to navigate other forms of expression until he found in traditional painting the medium to deepen his research and express his dreams, thoughts, and questions through his art.
Inspired by the feminine figures that influenced him since childhood and his search for a connection with his Afro-Brazilian ancestry, the artist explores themes from his visual daily life as a Black man, seeking in his feminine self the complexity and beauty in understanding the feminine universe. Furthermore, his research delves into racial issues, leading us to question modern society's relationship with the racial impacts that persist since the African diaspora.
His strokes, often playful and with popular, figurative, colorful, and contrasting references, establish a vibrant narrative and dialogue with the public, provoking questions and reflections surrounding his work, through the feminine figures and his Afro-ancestry.
